The Indonesia Climate-Modeling University Competition (ICUC) is a one-of-a-kind competition that brings together young university researchers to develop climate modelling to reduce emissions in Indonesia’s transportation system. The competition was held from August to November 2025, with a series of roadshows and coaching, targeting young researchers to submit their climate modelling models.
The six finalist groups, drawn from universities across the country, went on to take part in a week of intensive incubation sessions. Mentors from WRI Indonesia and partner institutions offered insights and technical guidance, helping participants refine their climate modelling scenarios ahead of final presentations to the judges.
The strongest individual and the winning team were subsequently awarded an internship and a climate fellowship, respectively, giving them the opportunity to further develop their scenarios in collaboration with WRI Indonesia.
