“Jagai Ponu”: How SALAMA Takes Action to Safeguard the Shores of Lalombi

In Lalombi Village, SALAMA community group successfully secured ±1,000 turtle eggs between February and April 2026. This grassroots initiative serves as an important effort to preserve Endangered, Threatened, and Protected (ETP) species while enhancing ecological connectivity within the integrated Land-and-Seascape (LaS) framework. Beyond immediate conservation efforts, the group is collaborating with local authorities to formalize species protection through village regulations, ensuring a sustainable future where marine biodiversity and community livelihoods thrive in synergy.
