To celebrate World Environment Day on June 5th, the RYCAM Project held tree planting activities in collaboration with its partners—Jamtani in Pangandaran and MPM in Toraja. The initiative aimed to raise awareness on climate change and inspire youth to take the lead in protecting nature. Around 3,200 trees were planted across both locations, with strong participation from youth and various stakeholders.

In Pangandaran, Jamtani led a successful event on May 9th, involving students, young farmers, and local government agencies. The Deputy Regent of Pangandaran was also present. Participants received education on biodiversity, food resilience, and community-driven ecosystem restoration.

In Toraja, MPM distributed tree seedlings to community groups, schools, and youth organizations across Tana Toraja and North Toraja, followed by symbolic planting and interfaith youth discussions. Toraja youth emphasized tallulolona—the local philosophy of harmony between humans, animals, and plants—as a foundation for environmental action.

For RYCAM, this is just the beginning of a broader movement to build climate-resilient villages. Through programs like the Young Farmers Competition, School Competition, and climate-smart agriculture training, RYCAM supports rural youth across Indonesia. With tools in hand and hope in their hearts, these young changemakers are planting not just trees, but a fairer, greener future.
