Jakarta, 28–30 April 2025

The Clean, Affordable, Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE) programme and Energy Hub in GIZ Energy Programme, in collaboration with Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), conducted the third and advanced LEAP training workshop. Over three days, 14 experts from institutions including Secretariat General of National Energy Council, and Ministry of National Development Planning, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, enhanced their technical capacity in energy system modelling using the LEAP and NEMO tools.

This final phase of the LEAP training series focused on advanced modelling features, such as temporal resolution, emission constraints, as well as multi-region and transmission planning. Participants also engaged directly with the LEAP Indonesia model developed by CASE, testing various scenarios relevant to Indonesia’s energy transition and present it as a group assignment.

As KEN will be published soon and RUEN development is approaching, equipping energy modelling skills such as LEAP is essential at these times of preparation,” said Suharyati, Coordinator for RUEN Facilitation, Secretariat General of the National Energy Council.

Participants expressed strong appreciation for the interactive format and relevant content. Post-event feedback reflected increased understanding of energy modelling and readiness to support evidence-based policy development aligned with national energy goals.
