One of RYCAM’s flagship efforts, the Young Cool Farmer Challenge (YCFC) has brought together 25 young farmer groups. Around 170 young farmers from Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi proposed innovative ideas in low-emission agriculture, green agripreneurship, resource efficiency, and sustainable agricultural down streaming. The spirit of cross-regional collaboration emerged as a crucial strength, showcasing youth leadership in addressing the climate crisis through practical and concrete action.

The twelve selected young farmer groups translated ideas into practice, shaping proposals for low emission and sustainable agriculture with tangible impacts on food security and local economies, rooted in local knowledge. Among the standouts was Farmtastic Club from Dairi in North Sumatra, whose project Circular Farming for the Future highlighted the role of young farmers in advancing low emission agriculture. Eco Farm Lestari followed with innovations in low carbon livestock systems aimed at reducing emissions. From eastern Indonesia, Team Day6 from Tana Toraja introduced Hybrid Mulch, a climate friendly organic mulch enriched with nutrients and designed to support more sustainable farming. 

YCFC demonstrates that young farmers can drive solutions to climate change through agribusiness. Winning groups will receive IDR 15 million to implement their ideas until March 2026. While YCFC Season 2 planned for 2026.
