SETI convened a series of workshops to introduce the practical implementation of Energy Management under Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 8 of 2025, focusing on the industrial sector on October 2 and the building sector on October 9. The sessions drew more than 250 participants, from energy intensive industries and commercial building operators to certified energy managers and auditors, joining both in person and online.

Opening the sessions, Director of Energy Conservation Hendra Iswahyudi emphasized that the regulation strengthens mandatory energy management for large energy users—≥4,000 TOE annually for the industrial sector and ≥500 TOE for buildings—to support Indonesia’s clean energy transition and national energy efficiency targets. Participants received practical guidance on appointing certified energy managers, conducting targeted energy audits on significant energy uses, implementing cost-effective recommendations, and reporting through the Online Energy Management Reporting System (POME), integrated with SINERGI.

The workshops also drew attention to non-fiscal incentives, performance based recognition, and opportunities for ASEAN level awards. Best practices from the private sector were shared, including Pakuwon Group’s Pakuwon Go Green system for POME reporting.

The impact was quickly visible, with the number of companies submitting POME reports rising from 367 in October to 440 by November 2025, a sign of strengthened compliance and broader adoption of energy efficiency measures.
