Bali Climate Week 2025 brings together regional leaders, climate activists, NGOs, funders, investors, and the public to advance collaborative, innovative, and impactful climate action. This year’s focus is on elevating the critical role of regional climate leaders in translating global climate goals into practical, context-specific local actions. 

WRI Indonesia, through its 2050 is Now project, is participating in two sessions: “Main Panel 2: Local and National Synergy for Global Impact” on August 25 at the National Forum, and “Workshop Session 1: The Development of Indonesia’s Carbon Market” on August 28 at the Climate Investment Forum. The first session invites representatives from national and local governments, as well as donors, to share strategies for addressing climate change within their respective mandates. Confirmed speakers include Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya, Deputy of Environment at Bappenas Teguh Sambodo, representatives from Riau, Central Java, South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and the Executive Director of ViriyaENB. 

The second session explored Indonesia’s carbon market under Presidential Regulation 98/2021, covering result-based payment (RBP), emissions trading systems (ETS), and carbon taxation. A Jambi case study highlighted local challenges in implementing RBP in the AFOLU sector. WRI stressed the importance of nature-based solutions, inclusive financing, and stronger multi-level collaboration.
