The agricultural sector is directly linked to the new priorities of Indonesia’s new president, Prabowo Subianto: two country priorities: providing free nutritious food and strengthening food security. These priorities must be in line with Indonesia’s commitment to achieve NZE by 2060 or sooner, so the agricultural sector must also move towards low-emission practices.

WRI Indonesia, the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Agriculture held a kick-off meeting in Jakarta on 21 February 2025 to initiate the development of the Agriculture NZE Roadmap. This roadmap will integrate the national long- and medium-term development plan with Indonesia’s NDC and LTS targets to achieve sustainable agricultural practices and green economic growth. WRI Indonesia will support the NZE Roadmap through a spatial and system dynamics approach, and policy analysis.
