On 9 April 2026 in Surabaya, the SETI Project conducted a socialisation event for Industrial Energy Lab Batch 2 to support the development and implementation of clean energy solutions in 50 industries through technical assistance, investment-grade audits (IGA), and capacity building. In his opening remarks, Director of Energy Conservation Hendra Iswahyudi emphasised that “the implementation of energy management is not just a regulatory requirement, but a strategic investment to enhance industrial competitiveness,” while Johannes Anhorn of Topic Lead Industry Decarbonisation,  GIZ Indonesia/ASEAN  highlighted that energy efficiency is “the smartest and most practical step” to reduce costs, mitigate risks, and lower emissions.

The event introduced the programme’s objectives, scope, benefits, and selection process, while providing guidance on assessment methodologies and participation requirements. It also featured presentations on energy efficiency and renewable energy, alongside a panel discussion with representatives from the East Java Energy Office and technology providers, drawing on lessons from Batch 1.

The SETI Project targets nine energy-intensive subsectors and facilitates partnerships with financial institutions and technology providers. Within two weeks of the event, 28% of participating companies had registered, and SETI encourages more industries to join in advancing Indonesia’s industrial energy transition.
