Youth-Led Initiatives for Gender-Responsive Climate Action and Participation in Marginalized Communities

The project aims to empower youth-led initiatives for gender-responsive climate action in marginalized communities in the climate-prone region of East Nusa Tenggara islands and across Indonesia. It addresses the disproportionate climate impacts on adolescents and young people, particularly girls, young women, and people with disabilities, including education disruptions, food insecurity, and exclusion from decision-making.

Support Project for Implementation Instruments of the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement (BioClime)

The project therefore supports partners through technical inputs, policy advice and exchange in the CBD and UNFCCC negotiations as well as in the design of improved implementation instruments for biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, such as national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NAP), national determined contributions (NDC), long-term strategies (LTS) and ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA). To this end, the project prepares learning experiences and promotes knowledge exchange, e.g. on biodiversity, natural climate protection, sustainable water management or resource efficiency via international initiatives, partnerships and knowledge networks.

Global ICCA Support Initiative 30 x 30

Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs) play a crucial role in the conservation of biological diversity at local, national and global levels. The ICCA GSI 30×30 (Phase 2) supports the implementation of Targets 3 and 22 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) in 40-50 countries. Target 3 refers to the need to protect or conserve a minimum of 30% of the planet’s land and sea surface by the year 2030. Target 22 refers to the need for equitable, inclusive and effective involvement of IPLCs in decision-making about nature conservation and biodiversity. The primary focus of the initiative is the provision of small grants directly to civil society organizations, Indigenous Peoples and community-based organizations. The initiative shares community-based good practices, network SGP grantee partners, and upscale and replicate lessons learned through improvements to the relevant ICCA enabling policy and legal frameworks.
