The Rural Youth Climate Action Movement organized the RYCAM Short Video Contest under the theme “Youth for Climate Action: Taking Action for the Climate Future,” inviting young people between the ages of 17 and 35 to step into the climate conversation. Young farmers, students, and environmentally minded community members were encouraged to document how climate adaptation, mitigation, and everyday eco friendly solutions are taking shape in their own communities.
In the lead up to the contest, RYCAM hosted a two-day online videography training for 75 participants from western and eastern Indonesia. The sessions focused on pre-production, storytelling, and filming techniques, equipping participants with the tools needed to produce videos that are both technically sound and socially resonant.
From December 1, 2025, to January 10, 2026, a total of 105 videos were submitted from across Indonesia. The winners will be announced on January 21, 2026, following evaluation by three expert panels in the categories of Best Visual, Best Narrative, and Best Concept. In addition, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite videos, with awards given based on Instagram engagement.
This contest is more than a competition—it is a platform for young Indonesians to share innovative climate solutions, inspire communities, and demonstrate the power of youth leadership in building a sustainable, low-emission future.
